We’re fortunate to live in a time when our airgun hobby is being supplied with amazing products by amazing manufactures from all around the globe, but once is awhile something truly spectacular comes along, a real game changer, and that’s what we found with the Sightron SIII 10-50×60 rifle scope made and designed exclusively for Field Target.
I first discovered this gem of an optic at the 2015 Shot Show in Las Vegas and knew right away it filled a gap in affordable performance optics needed for Field Target. At Trenier Outdoors we’re proud to carry a lot of exceptional products but picking up the Sightron SIII 10-50×60 for the first time and I knew I was handling something special.
The Sightron 10-50×60 is a large scope as it needs to be with 50x magnification and large light gathering 60mm objective lens. First impressions are quality build, feel and a stunning fit and finish. A quick glimpse through this optic and I could tell the internals making up this scope were also top of the line. Adjusting the turrets, side focus and power wheel all spoke silky-smooth quality. I was anxious to get back to the office, place an order and get one of these mounted for a real use experience.
The Sightron SIII 10-50×60 is available in two reticle choices and designated by the part number. The SIII10x50-60IRFTMOA and SIII10x50-60IRFTMH. The IR in the part number signifies “Illuminated Reticle” while MOA represents “Minute of Angle” and MH represent “Mil Hash”, Mil Hash being more popular with in the European community.
The illumination only lights up the center dot, which is my personal preference, while the rest of the reticle provide fine crisp lines giving you all the aiming points you need.
Included with the Sightron SIII Field Target is an extended rubber eye cup, a nice Neoprene scope cover and a large diameter focus wheel. A sunshade is available but sold separately. The scope arrives in a nice package well protected by cutout foam which is always appreciated.
It’s not just the stunning quality and clarity of this scope that makes it amazing, this scope is designed to range find distance to targets and no doubt it does it like no other. The side focus and large wheel are both “un-marked” as Sightron understood the needs of the FT shooter and marking their own distances. With Field Targets placed at a distance between 9 to 55 yards, this scope ranging capability is precisely that and nothing more, this allows full rotational use of the focus wheel and ranging distances. Placed at the upper side up the magnification level, the Sightron is going to be giving you range finding capability measured if feet and not yards and that is what makes this Sightron SIII truly spectacular.
