Sightron SI 4-12×40
Sightron is known throughout the world, especially among the Airgun community, for delivering high quality optics. They currently produce one of the more beloved Field Target scopes, the Sightron SIII, used by competitors worldwide. Historically, the Sightron line has been a premium optic at a premium price. The newly released Sightron SI Hunter series however, hopes to change this perception. This scope is made in China to specific tolerances dictated by Sightron. The end result is a more affordable optic, which however still maintains the qualities and features which go along with the Sightron name.

Precision Focusing down to 8 Yards
One of the joys of using this Sightron scope was how well it focused. Typically, I’ve had problems ranging with some of the other scope brands in the sub $200USD price range. They would be functional, but lack some of the precision found in higher end models. This would result in sometimes being yards off when ranging. With this Sightron however, I did not have this problem.

One note on this and other precision optics. You will want to take the time to calibrate your scope to how your eyes focus. Typically this is done by covering the existing yardage numbers with masking tape or something similar, then writing in your own values.

Clear optics, affordable price, the new scope to beat
The only negative I have with the new Sightron is really one of personal preference. I am a big fan of side focus scopes. I enjoy being able to use a sidewheel for range estimation when I’m shooting Hunter Field Target and when I’m doing pest control or small game hunting. I hope they one day do offer a side focus model of this scope.
